Welcome to Riad Abaka, a traditional Moroccan house centered around a charming courtyard fountain. The main house encircles the patio, bordered by elegant columns. A few steps further, discover a second patio featuring a refreshing dipping pool, offering guests a spacious and comfortable environment. Each of the seven rooms, spread over two levels, showcases traditional Moroccan décor and unique charm. During your stay, enjoy a variety of communal spaces, including multiple living rooms, the poolside patio, a cozy chimney corner, a Berber tent with traditional Moroccan décor, and two terraces, including a solarium. These diverse surroundings provide ample opportunities to relax and socialize.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Nice place but member of staff Abdou constantly making a move for me. Informed staff but nothing done about it. Made me feel really uncomfortable. I’d go back to Marrakesh but would certainly be avoiding this place if he’s still working there
I had a very bad experience at this Riad so I didn't enjoy anything about my stay and couldn't wait to leave. I booked indigo room with terrace in advance with booking.com and paid in full in advance. When I checked in the staff put myself and my children in a small orange room with no external window. I complained that I booked indigo room with terrace and I wanted the room I booked. The manager said that room doesn't exist. I messaged the raid through Booking.com app to complain in writing. In the message I received back from the manager, it was written in a way to pretend it was Booking.com staff actually replying ie we have spoken with the Riad manager etc...However, it was actually the Riad writing this message but pretending to be Booking.com staff. I have sent the messages to Booking.com and they are investigating. I was asked to pay 81 dirrham tax on arrival. I paid 101 dirham to check in staff. They said they didn't have any change. I asked when I could have my 20 dirham change. They said later when they get change. This Riad is situated on a busy market street so easy for staff to get change. Nobody brought me any change. I later had to demand change and a receipt from Manager.
If you love staying in places with a magical atmosphere you definitely should choose Riad Abaka - a hidden gem in one of narrow lanes of Marrakesh Medina. Staff very kind and helpful - warm greetings to Khadija :) great location, enchanting patio with palm trees and birds singing among leaves, comfy sofas, lovely place on the roof where you can enjoy your cup of coffee or tea and watch Mediva from above, you can also spot snowy peaks of Atlas Mountains. Sunrise there in unforgettable experience! Rooms are spacious and nicely decorated, breakfast delicious. I think there is nothing I'd like to improve. In my opinion everything was just perfect <3
We stayed 4 friends in one of the 3 Riads with the same name. As a starter we where approched by someone that "helped" us getting there as our transfer didn't but he and other guy pushed us to give them money. Ayoub tooked us to the correct place and gave us the most precious advise on our stay: don't accept "help" to go anywhere and if you don't want to buy nothing just ignore the approaches. Khadija from the reception also gave us very good advises and booked us experiences that we loved: the trip to Ourika Cascades and Hammam. All the staff at reception and the cleanning and servers were so helpfull. Special mention also to Marouane, Fatima and Chahrazad. We felt very well taken care of, the breakfast and being close to everything. Thank you. Obrigada. Merci. Choukran
We booked a stay at Riad Akaba by Ghali, but on arrival were moved to their sister property, Riad Abaka by Ghali 2 (Sania), after our original room was reportedly sold due to our late check-in. This was extremely disappointing, especially as we had booked it for our anniversary based on the photos of the beautiful courtyard pool shown on the listing, which belonged to a different riad.
The replacement riad was down two dark alleyways that felt unpleasant and unsafe at night, particularly for solo travellers. Staff were polite and apologetic throughout, but the experience overall was disorganised. We received no area orientation or useful information about excursions, and the card machine was not working on arrival.
The room felt more like a budget hostel than the boutique riad advertised. It smelled musty, had mismatched towels, lumpy pillows, a ripped bathmat, inadequate bedding for the cold nights, a flickering bathroom light, and a broken shower bracket. Although the light was fixed promptly, the shower issue remained unresolved.
Breakfast was served off-site at a nearby café/restaurant and was basic and cramped. The following morning we discovered the riad we originally booked had no record of our stay, despite our confirmation stating otherwise. Our travel agent later confirmed our original room had been sold and thankfully arranged alternative accommodation elsewhere that matched what we had actually booked.
It’s worth noting there are several similarly named riads on Google Maps — Riad Abaka by Ghali, Riad Abaka by Ghali 2, and Riad Abaka Hotel & Boutique — and we were told the listing photos may show different properties within the group rather than the specific riad you will stay in.
While the staff themselves were courteous and clearly embarrassed by the situation, the misleading listing, room downgrade, and disruption to our short break made this a very disappointing experience.
