Marrakech

This impressive riad boasts an enviable situation in the quaint medina, just a short stroll from the famous Saadian Tombs and the imposing Royal Palace. Visitors may also access the Djemaa el Fna square and numerous local businesses situated within a short stroll from the property. Guests will be enchanted by fabulous traditional Moroccan design, rich interior décor and attentive service sure to cater for needs of even the most discerning visitors. The spacious and magnificent rooms welcome guests in cosy surroundings in which to completely loosen up after a long journey or venturing into this steeped in the history city. Travellers may also indulge in delectable Moroccan delights in the rooftop restaurant while letting their eyes wander over the city panorama. Travellers may also take a plunge in the courtyard or indoor pools and soak up the sun on the furnished rooftop terrace.

Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.

beautiful

Me and my friend came to Marrakech for the first time, and we could not be more happy with this riad! from the start we were made to feel so welcome, we arrived a few hours early and the staff let us relax downstairs and up on the roof top, even brought us some tea over while we waited. the room itself was gorgeous, so much space and a lovely view of the pool. every time we came back from a day out the room had been re set and we had been provided with fresh towels, and new oil in the burners so it always smelled lovely. the staff are all so friendly and the riad feels very safe, out of the way of the majority of the street life but theres a few shops a couple of minutes away if you need to buy bottled water or snacks. 100% would recommend, thank you to all the staff for making us feel so welcome!

Mixed Experience - Choose carefully

On arrival you enter an oasis from the heat and noise of the Marrakech Medina. But no-one introduces themselves, as you handover your personal data. We are leaving more tired than when we arrived. As previous reviews demonstrate, downstairs is noisy, not because of the pool area, but because of the cats and the front door going off through the night. We answered the door twice as staff didn't. The cats fought in the middle of the night waking everyone. One cat howls throughout, every evening. The staff are universally lovely, polite welcoming and accommodating. Our air con rattled through the night, so if you are a light sleeper you need ear plugs. Beds are comfortable. The towel rail is broken and although they gove you bottled water, you have to ask for glasses. The room our children were in had flakes of paint on the pillows 2 nights in a row, the ly decided to paint it, but no alternative room was offered. The next morning there was a leak from the roof onto the bed. Not apology until we made a fuss. We decided to leave early because it was far from restful. We were offered a 5% discount. One morning, no-one was around to offer breakfast. It is a lovely place but unfortunately our experience was poor.

Serious management issues overshadow the stay

Our experience at Palais Riad Calipau was extremely disappointing, largely due to how issues were handled by management. We had three rooms booked. Two of the three had significant problems: one had a persistent smell of smoke, and another was dark and windowless, making it uncomfortable to stay in. We raised these concerns promptly and calmly.

At that point - rather than addressing the issues - management charged our card directly. Following this, the owner was abusive during a phone call, then escalated matters further by sending hostile and accusatory WhatsApp messages. These included unfounded allegations that we intended to leave without paying, which is entirely untrue.

Only after this series of events were we told - via staff - that the owner wanted us to cancel our Booking.com reservation in exchange for €100 in cash, while still allowing us to stay the night. This was communicated with urgency and felt inappropriate and pressurising. We declined.

We checked out properly, paid local taxes, and left a tip for staff.

While the riad itself may look appealing in photographs, the standard of management, communication, and guest care was unacceptable. A hospitality business should resolve problems professionally and respectfully; sadly, that was not our experience here.

I would not recommend staying and suggest travellers proceed with caution.

Amazing Riad, one of the bestesrlt

Our first experience of Riad and this is the best one we could find. Extremely good and friendly people here and were so welcoming. The riad itself was so beautiful and serene. The people were so kind, took care of us very well. I 100% recommend this place.
