Had the best holiday. Went with my husband and parents . As a surprise for my parents I asked a lovely lady called Sara for help and she was just amazing. Their room was decorated with petals, fruit and wine basket etc. The meals were great with plenty to choose from. Drinks were good too. Yes there were honey bees everywhere but they're protected so quite hard to control but only as a small suggestion maybe citronella candles to deter at the bar. The pool was great and I enjoyed the aqua aerobics before I relaxed by the pool and enjoyed the sunshine. The entertainment team were great and are good at knowing who needs to relax and who doesn't. We were offered board games for our balcony by Sam which was a great idea . Sara is a great member of staff. So kind and helpful. Nothing was too much for her. A true credit to the hotel. If I only had 1 small thing to add to the hotel it would be a shop selling snacks, toiletries, gifts etc as there's not much around the hotel. A free shuttle bus is available to Marrakech but a small shop would be handy for those who may not want to venture far. I would definatly return to El Olivar Palace.
What a fabulous hotel- the pool was fantastic and never felt too crowded even with the daily waterpolo and aqua aerobics going on! The food was so varied and delicious especially the shawarma kebabs - staff in the restaurant and the bar were friendly and it was really relaxed and they were so attentive and happy to help at any given opportunity. The entertainment staff were formidable their energy and enthusiasm was contagious especially in all the different languages They were fluent in! Amazing and never left anyone out at all! The popquiz nights were amazing as they managed to cater for a diverse crowd! The spa staff were brilliant too and the mani pedi and facial we received were the best :) thank you all! The rooms were fab and cleaned every day and the air con was fantastic- a great relief after the heatwave at home!! Thoroughly recommend and so close to marrakech to go on adventures too! Well worth the money :)
We had a really enjoyable stay and, overall, would happily recommend this hotel if you're looking for an authentic Moroccan experience rather than expecting a luxury UK-style five-star resort.
The highlights were definitely the staff in the day bar and restaurants. Yousef and A.Reda in the day bar were outstanding β friendly, welcoming, attentive and always happy to help. They made every visit enjoyable. All day staff in the bar were friendly, sadly unlike the night time bar staff. Our waiter, L.Younes, was equally fantastic, always smiling, personable and providing excellent service throughout our stay. They are a real credit to the hotel.
The food was another positive. There was a good variety each day, with plenty of delicious local Moroccan dishes alongside more familiar options. If you enjoy trying local cuisine, you won't be disappointed. There was also a good range of excursions available, making it easy to explore more of Morocco with a very helpful excursion team.
Unfortunately, our experience with reception wasn't as positive. A. Younes provided poor customer service and came across as unhelpful and obstructive. We received very little information about the hotel or the resort, leaving us to figure most things out ourselves. A warmer welcome and better local knowledge would make a huge difference to guests' first impressions.
A few suggestions that would improve the experience:
So, is it a UK five-star hotel? No. But that's not necessarily a criticism. It's a friendly, comfortable hotel with a relaxed atmosphere, lovely staff in the bars and restaurants, excellent local food, and a genuine taste of Moroccan culture. If you arrive with the right expectations, you'll have a very enjoyable holiday.
We are currently staying at the El Olivar Palace hotel. I nearly didn't book it based on the few bad reviews....I'm so glad I ignored them. We are a family of two adults and three children. We have the junior suite. The kids have a big room with 3 beds. We have a massive double room. There are two toilets one with two showers! Room was immaculate on arrival and cleaners have come everyday and left it spotless. The restaurant is never too busy. The hours for each mealtime are excellent. Breakfast until 10.30. Lunch 1-3 Afternoon tea 5-6 and Dinner 7-10 and pizza available at the pool bar for most of the day as far as we can see! Wine is served at lunch and dinner. I don't know where the reviewers of the bad reviews were eating! Food is delicious and very extensive! Bbq most meals. The freshly made kebabs this eve were better than I've ever had and the crepes!! Yummy!! Compliments to all involved in the food prep. We're really enjoying it! The entertainment team are great fun! So much energy! The aqua aerobics is a brilliant start to the day! The atmosphere here is so relaxed and welcoming. All the staff are very friendly and welcoming also. So polite. We took the shuttle bus to Marakesh centre today. So prompt and just a 20 minute ride. So much to see out the window on the short journey. I highly recommend this hotel and I advise ignoring the few bad reviews. By the way!! Free delicious ice-cream π¦ is served during at least one mealtime each day as far as we've seen. Oh my goodness! So so good!! Thank you to all the staff for your welcome and hard work. We're really looking forward to the rest of our stay. I felt I had to refute the bad reviews.
