Located at the heart of Marrakech, really close to the District of Gueliz, the Almas hotel combines traditional Moroccan style with a more contemporary and modern look. The rooms are decorated with antique pieces and have views of central Marrakech and one of the trendiest districts in the city, Gueliz District offers its visitors the most exclusive shops and boutiques, restaurants and art galleries. Guests staying at the hotel will be able to experience the well-known Moroccan hospitality, relax at the rooftop swimming pool and lounge area and enjoy the panoramic views of the city and the Mount Atlas, or take a walk on the Mohammed V Avenue, famous for its cafés and shops. The railway station is just a 5 minute walk away, and there is only a 15 minute ride to the airport. The culture and gastronomy of Morocco make of Marrakech an exotic and romantic destination for couples and families.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
A good hotel, comfortable beds and a decent breakfast. Close to restaurants and the Medina. Would recommend this as a place to stay. Bedroom was clean with a nice bathroom and a lovely shower. Staff were friendly. Good air conditioning in the room
Me my partner and daughter of 8 months stayed here , I was quite unsure after reading all the negative comments people left, but after staying here , I do not have one complaint at all , the desk staff , was a guy and a lady , both very welcoming and polite , to the housekeeping where very good , and always played around with our baby every time they saw her .
Breakfast- don’t have nothing to complain about , because you get what you pay for, there was just enough , boiled eggs , fruit , cheeses , yogurts , bread , and a variety of warm food etc .. , they will do you a omelette or scrambled eggs if you ask one of the staff , no problem whatsoever . The waiters , I did not get their name but a big thank you , specially for your kindness, helping with anything we needed , and once again always playing with baby Noa .
Rooms- where fine , people complained it was too dull or needed refurbished, but it’s Morocco , you get the Moroccan colours and old styles . I liked it :)
Used the pool plenty of times , always nice and clean , towels always available for you when you go up to the rooftop , and u can ask for a menu and they will assist you with what you want .
Walking wise , you have restaurants, bars , and a shopping malls near by , you can walk to the Medina Souks , that’s about 30 mins walk , we didn’t walk as it was to hot with the baby , but everything is close by. (Heads up , for people that start filming and taking pictures as they will come over and expect you to pay , or they will try and put a monkey on your shoulder , or place a hat on your head)
Thank you all the staff for a wonderful and pleasant stay .
Rachael , Joel and Baby Noa
The hotel has wifi but it didn’t work from our room or by the pool.
The rooms are very nice and spacious, the shower in the bathroom is lovely and they were cleaned very nicely each day.
However the windows sound like they’re open and let water in even though they were shut, it is very loud outside all night until about 5am. With beeping, revving and shouting.
There is good little food places and a shop right outside the hotel.
No hair dryer was in the room, and it gets very cold as the windows don’t seem to fully shut.
Receptionist lady also didn’t know very much English.
Reception staff are rude and unhelpful. Heating in room not working, neither is telephone. Breakfast not many choices.
This is an absolutely harrowing experience, especially with a child involved. It
I am writing this with a shaking hand and tears in my eyes. What my 6-year-old son and I experienced at this hotel was not just "bad service", it was a vicious, discriminatory, and terrifying assault on our safety and well-being.
After a grueling 5-hour journey from Agadir, we arrived exhausted, seeking nothing more than a bed. Instead, we were met by a monster at the front desk. A young woman (roughly 18–24) who has no business in hospitality, peolly has anger issues unleashed a level of unhinged rage I have never witnessed in my life so much that we were scared for our lives as my son was shivering as this woman melted out abuses at the top of her voice to me. When I asked to settle my tired child in the room while we verified if taxes were already included in my booking, she didn't just disagree, she exploded.
For 30 agonizing minutes, this woman screamed at us at the top of her lungs. My son began to panic, visibly shaking as she rained down abuse. She wasn't just unprofessional; she was a racist bigot, shouting that we were in Morocco and "not from wherever I came from." She lunged toward me, nearly coming over the desk to physically strike me. We were genuinely scared for our lives.
When I finally got the manager on the phone, the nightmare worsened. Without asking for my side, he immediately began screaming at me, threatening to call the police, and telling me to take my money from the booking site and get out. He chose to protect a violent, abusive employee over a father and a terrified child.
The trauma didn't end there. When our room key failed, I had to leave my son for a moment to get help. Because he was so terrified that the police were coming to take his father away, he wandered off to find me. The sheer panic of losing my child in that hostile environment is a pain I cannot describe. I found him shaking, confused, and crying.
Safety: Zero. You are at the mercy of aggressive, unstable staff.
Service: Beyond cruel. They refused to hold our luggage for even an hour after check-out, despite doing it for other guests.
Facilities: The rooms are dark and depressing; the breakfast is a joke with almost no options.
To any parent considering this hotel: I beg you, stay away. This establishment is a den of hostility and discrimination. No "good room" is worth the sight of your child shaking in fear because of the people meant to welcome you.
This is the worst hotel in history. I wouldn't stay here again if they paid me.
