I wouldn’t stay here again – very disappointing experience
I wanted to leave a completely honest review of our stay because there were some positives, but unfortunately the negatives really affected our holiday.
When we first arrived at around 6pm, the room we were given was awful. There were mosquitoes flying around everywhere and even dead mosquitoes on the floor. I went straight back to reception and explained that I could not stay in that room with my family.
To their credit, they did move us to a much nicer room. It wasn’t the two separate rooms we had originally asked for as they were combined, but the new room itself was lovely, so we decided to just make the best of it.
Then I went to have a shower and realised there were no towels at all. I went down to reception and was told somebody would bring towels within half an hour. Nobody came. I kept waiting and asking, and by around 2am I was back at reception again because we still had no towels, despite having been at the hotel since around 6pm. I was again told somebody would bring them up. It wasn’t until around 4am that towels finally arrived. In the meantime I had actually had to shower and dry myself using one of the hotel’s sheets. This was our very first night and wasn’t a good start to the holiday.
The food was probably the biggest disappointment throughout the week. For us, there was very little we actually enjoyed eating. I mainly ended up having things such as chips and chicken nuggets. Obviously food is down to personal taste, but I definitely wouldn’t choose this hotel if food is an important part of your holiday.
There were positives. A lot of the staff were really friendly and helpful, and I had a lovely massage. The people working in the spa were particularly nice. Unfortunately, I didn’t find some of the management as welcoming, and a couple of the female managers came across as quite rude.
However, the worst part happened when we were checking out.
We were told that we had “damaged” a bedsheet and a towel and had to pay approximately £30. My children had been eating mango and some had got onto the bedsheet. We had put the sheet to one side specifically so housekeeping could take it away to be washed. We weren’t trying to hide anything.
I couldn’t understand why we were being charged for a dirty bedsheet and towel as though they had been deliberately damaged, rather than them first being properly laundered. When I questioned the charge and said I didn’t want to pay it, the situation escalated to the point where we were told that the police would be called if we didn’t pay.
Being threatened with the police over a stained hotel bedsheet at checkout was extremely upsetting and left a horrible ending to our holiday. We ultimately paid the charge, but I really didn’t agree with the way the situation was handled.
After a week here, I was definitely ready to go home. There were some lovely members of staff and the spa was a positive experience, but between the first room, mosquitoes, waiting until 4am for towels, the poor food and then the way the bedsheet situation was handled at checkout, I personally would not return to this hotel.
I have photographs of the sheet/towel from checkout as well, so this review is based purely on our own experience.
Need to get the basics correct and easily get the score up. 2 weeks 1 bed change and 3 of us in a room only had 2 towels, had to keep requesting a third towel. Mosquitoes we hungry too!
WARNING BED BUGS. I went with my son's family. We have been home three days and my son, daughter in law and myself are covered in bites . Whilst there we put it down to mosquitoes, however since coming home its been confirmed by a doctor its bed bug bites. My daughter on laws bites are so severe that she has had to take antibiotics and been referred to see a specialist. My grandchildren have been very lucky with just 1 or 2 bites. Whilst there i spoke to a couple of people who had to have their rooms fumigated. I recommend you avoid this hotel at all costs. It is not a 5 star hotel its filthy
I travelled as a single woman with 7 children aged 5–16. Although the children enjoyed the pool slides and some staff were lovely, our overall experience was extremely upsetting. The most serious incident was being told by hotel management that I could not leave the hotel and that security would detain me unless I paid $100 for falsely alleged damage. Our airport transfer was then instructed not to take us. I was left stranded outside the hotel with my 7 children when the transfer left. Thankfully, we found another taxi and made our flight. I have recordings and have reported the incident to the Egyptian police. There were also serious concerns about a cleaner secretly recording my children's room, harassing me and inappropriate behaviour towards my teenage daughters. The hotel itself was nowhere near 5-star: dirty and damaged rooms, leaking ceilings, no towels for 30 hours, mosquitoes, construction, poor food, pool closures, lack of sun loungers and severe food poisoning during the final 3 days. I am extremely disappointed with both the hotel and On the Beach. I strongly recommend that On the Beach investigates this hotel and reviews whether it should continue to be sold as a 5-star property.
Ok! So I didn’t want to write such a shocking review after everything that happend but I have to now I know this hotel have lied to us. After being there for one day I had to go meet my rep from on the beach to discuss excursions and the hotel, all was well. I booked a Turkish bath excursion bear in mind I’m a single mum and went away with a 17 year old 15year old and 12year old i thought they wuould be fine. However whilst waiting for my taxi back my daughter who was at the aqua park was messaging me saying some life guard in non uniform by the way came over and sat on there lounger very aroused and being sexually vocal to the girls asking for one to come to the slide with him and the other to go to the toilets so he could show how big he was this was all noted and vocalised to the hotel there was also a video of this guy speaking in Arabic which the staff where shocked to hear I wasnt told what he said I was fobbed off with something minor I was then given the option to have him arrested and go to the police station and make a statement and then obviously when needed come back to Egypt to go to court however I was also given the option from the hotel of lettin this employee go and never being able to work In this hotel ever again or any hotel in Egypt ever again, I went with this option as I was leaving in a week and we was never going come across this man ever again! I could say more to what the man did but even the hotel was shocked so I’m confused to now since being back I’ve seen on social media he is now back there working! He was actually put on a 10 vacation till I left the hotel. Please if u do book this hotel refrain from leaving your teenage kids alone I learned the hard way and the hotel will fake there care for your kids! I’m furious they lied to us and they even said to me if he’s done this how do they know he hasn’t done it before or will do it again and they have still let him back! Ruined our start to our holiday
