Overall, my experience was memorable, elevated by warm hospitality despite a few inconsistencies in dining.

Highlights

• Reception: Energetic, cheerful, and incredibly supportive—with special thanks to Ahmed Salah for his standout assistance.
• Dining Service: The restaurant team was exceptionally quick and welcoming. Heartfelt thanks to Chef Mohamed AbdelKader and Chef Mohamed Mosaad for their daily warmth, the talented grill chef, and waiters Waleed Ali, Hamza, and Mansour for their great service.

Areas for Improvement

• Food Quality: While some meals were good, the dinner buffet was hit-or-miss and lacked flavor on certain days.
• Kids' Menu: Needs better variety and care tailored to younger guests.

We had a very pleasant stay at The Cascades Golf Resort, Spa & Thalasso. The setting in Soma Bay is beautiful, the atmosphere is relaxing, the private beach is really nice, the color of the Red Sea is incredible and the golf course and practice areas are great. The beauty salon offers truly excellent services. A huge thank you to Amira, who recommended an excellent facial treatment! It was pure bliss. The massages (Swedish, Balinese and relaxing) at the spa are just wonderful. The food is good and the staff is overall very attentive. A great place that I highly recommend!

What I liked

The beach area is excellent. There is plenty of space, privacy and a beautiful stretch of water. The sea is incredible, and this was definitely one of the highlights of my stay. The hotel itself is also very quiet, which is great if you are looking for relaxation. If you are looking for activities, entertainment and shows, however, it's not the place.

The gym is quite decent and sufficient for a good workout.

The thalasso spa is absolutely worth experiencing. It is not included in the hotel stay, but for me it was worth the additional cost. The pool is on another level, one of the best parts of the whole experience.

The surroundings are beautiful, with the golf courses around the resort creating a very pleasant atmosphere.

My room was very spacious and large, with a partial sea view. I also appreciated that the hotel prepared a birthday cake for me, which was a very nice personal touch.

What could be improved

The biggest issue for me was the service and the amount of unnecessary bureaucracy around very simple requests.

Every time I requested a bottled water or a soda, I was asked for my room number and had to sign a receipt, even when the amount was 0. The same happened at the beach bar and restaurant. This became particularly frustrating.

At the restaurant — whether breakfast, lunch or dinner — drinks were often brought very late or not at all. The service was generally quite slow, and waiters did not seem particularly proactive. At one point, when I asked for water, a waiter actually told me to go and get it myself because the water was available in the buffet area. When I specifically requested bottled water, they did not offer it; instead, there were filtered-water machines.

I also found it strange that I was repeatedly asked for my room number when entering or ordering at the restaurant.

The reception service was another weak point. The staff were not rude, but they often did not give me the impression that they were particularly open to helping or finding solutions. For example, when I asked about golf, I was simply told to go outside the hotel to the golf company because the reception could not provide any information. Even small requests sometimes felt unnecessarily difficult, and I often had the feeling that I was somehow asking for too much simply by asking for something to be arranged.

The room itself was spacious and comfortable, but mine was quite far from the lobby, around 5–7 minutes of fast walking (Room 1508 5th floor). It was also close to the road, so with the window open you could clearly hear traffic. The window could be closed, but it did not provide much sound insulation, so traffic noise could still clearly be heard from inside the room. This was noticeable especially when trying to sleep.

The food was okay overall, although I was personally very careful about what I ate during the stay. I mainly chose cooked food and bottled products and avoided anything that had only been washed with water.
