Mixed review great stay but let down by medical team

We recently stayed at Jasmine Palace Resort in Egypt and overall had a really enjoyable holiday, with a few significant issues that unfortunately mean we wouldn't return.

The rooms were lovely, very spacious, and perfect for our time here. The beds were incredibly comfortable, there was a large walk-in shower, and we were lucky enough to have a great view overlooking the pool. Our room was also in an ideal location, close to the beach and all of the resort's amenities. The only minor criticism is that housekeeping could have been a little more thorough at times, but overall we were very happy with the accommodation.

The staff throughout the resort were fantastic and really made our holiday. The entertainment reps were brilliant, and we'd especially like to thank Youssef Joo and Mo ( resort reps). They were all incredibly friendly, welcoming, and genuinely made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The club nights organised by the hotel were also excellent—we had such a great time and met some brilliant people, which became one of the highlights of our trip.

Unfortunately, the biggest issue with our stay was the hotel doctor, who is employed by an external company. This experience was so poor that it has completely changed our opinion of returning to the resort.

A friend of ours was charged nearly £2,000 for what amounted to two IV drips and two small sleeves of tablets. At no point before treatment were we given any indication of the costs involved, not even a rough estimate. After the treatment, we requested an invoice explaining the charges but were repeatedly refused unless payment was made first. That is simply not how medical billing should work. The doctor was extremely rude, dismissive, and unprofessional throughout the process.

We also raised the matter with Guest Relations, hoping they could help us obtain an invoice or resolve the situation, but unfortunately they were unable or unwilling to assist. Being in a country where stomach illnesses can be quite common for tourists, it's essential that guests can trust the medical services associated with the hotel. In our experience, there was a complete lack of transparency, and we genuinely felt that unnecessary treatments were encouraged without any explanation of the costs beforehand. Charging nearly £2,000 without first discussing fees or providing an itemised invoice is completely unacceptable. We strongly urge the hotel to review the medical services offered through this external provider, as our experience was one of the worst parts of an otherwise enjoyable holiday.

The beach itself was beautiful, with lovely soft sand and warm, clear water. However, it's worth noting that the sea is extremely shallow. Even after walking around 100 metres out to the buoy line, the water was still not deep enough to properly swim. That's obviously due to the natural coastline rather than the hotel, but it's something to be aware of if you're hoping to swim or snorkel, as neither is particularly good here.

Finally, I would strongly advise guests against booking the horse or camel excursions offered from the hotel. The animals appeared to be badly treated and clearly overworked. During the intense daytime heat, they had little or no visible access to food or water, which was upsetting to see. Based on what we witnessed, I would not recommend spending any money on these excursions.

The food was probably the biggest downside of the resort for us, although this will depend on your personal tastes. If you have specific dietary requirements, are travelling with children who prefer plain food, or are generally a picky eater, you may struggle to find suitable options. There was very little in the way of simple, plain meals, and we often found ourselves eating out during the week because we couldn't find enough food that suited our preferences. That said, when we did find dishes we enjoyed, they were excellent and very well prepared. On the other hand, the drinks were consistently fantastic, and the bartenders were always friendly, attentive, and happy to keep our glasses topped up. Overall, if you're an adventurous eater, you'll likely have a much better experience than we did, but if you're particularly fussy with food, this probably isn't the best hotel for you.

Overall, Jasmine Palace Resort has many positives: spacious rooms, comfortable beds, fantastic staff, great entertainment, and a welcoming atmosphere. However, the shocking experience with the external medical provider, the lack of support from Guest Relations regarding such a serious matter, and the concerns over animal welfare mean that, sadly, we would not return. This version is firm and detailed while focusing on your firsthand observations and clearly distinguishing your experience from conclusions about intent, which also makes it more suitable for posting on public review sites. DO NOT use the hotel doctor!!!

Hotel dated and old in areas, food same every day and drinks worst we have ever had

We stayed with family. We had a family room, and the shower had a glass screen overlooking the kids' room. Whilst it was thick opaque glass, you could still see a lot through it when someone was in the shower. We always had to leave the room when someone was in there. Very strange design, especially for a family room. The beds were ok, pillows were very hard, but there were some spare pillows which were better. Lots of options with regards to swimming pools, but again, whoever designed them never thought of older people. My mum is 72, and she could not get in the pool because there were no steps, just pool ladders. Only pool with easy access was the wave pool. Water in pools is also deep or very shallow, no transition as no steps.

The sea is far, but we knew this. There is a reef at the end of the pier, and we snorkelled there every day. Saw lots of fish and even a sting ray. That was good. But this again is a design flaw for the pier. Because the water is so shallow right of the beach, they could have created more access points along where water was different in depth. Only access points again are where water is quite deep for someone who can't swim. So you either walk through the low water and rocks all the way to where water is a bit deeper or you sit in the very shallow water. My mum 71 and MIL 66 which were traveling with us do not swim are are both short, so no chance of going in the pools because of the ladder access and no chance of going in the depper sea without walking through all the rock pools and shallow water. Very bad design again and no consideration to needs of older visitors.

My parents had a double room which smelled very bad. They never said anything as not the kind to complain, but that was not acceptable, and had I known, I would have tried to get them moved. But the people clening should have done something about this.

The food was the same every day. There was plenty of choice and you could find something to eat, but it was the same stuff every day. In the evening we tried the al a carte restaurants. Chinese ok, maybe a 5 out of 10, the italian worst pizza and pasta I have ever seen. The egyptian was a buffet at the beach restaurant, the same things as in the main restaurant, but less choice. What is the point in that. After 3 days of these, we started going out for dinner.

Drinks!!! Worst stuff ever. Cocktails are like sugar with water and some watered-down alcohol and something to give them colour. Worst stuff ever. We just drank coke as that was bottled and beer, which was also some local bottled beer. Glasses were washed by hand by the people serving if they were too busy. We actually saw a woman get served beer in the glass that my husband had just returned. After that, we just used our insulated cups when we could and brought bottled water from the room. The drinks were bad everywhere, not just the pool but even at the bars in the hotel. I understand paying for top shelf stuff, but it was not the alcohol that made the cocktails bad.

I thought all inclusive means all inclusive, but there was a juice bar that made fresh drinks and nicer cocktails. But even those cocktails were not great. Ice cream was really bad, and it was only available at the pool bar for a short while.

The grounds are great and people were always tending to the grass and flowers and trees. A lot of hard work seems to go into that. But the ptahs are craked and the tiles are all in bad shape. The animation team was great, always coming over to make sure people were ok. Staff overall were nice if you tipped, which we always did.
We tried the massage, and it was ok. There's nothing to rave about. Not the best, not the worst, but it was strange to hear the lady giving me a massage asking every 10 minutes if i like it and if i have a present for her.

We only came here as we were stuggling to find a hotel that we could book via travel agents from 3 different countries.

I am sure people will like it, especially if this is your first time in Egypt or 1st time going all inclusive, but I thinks there are better options for this price.

Definitely Not A 5*

Just spent a week here and we will post a honest review. After a long flight delay we arrived early hours and were checked in and escorted to our room! It was a huge 2 bed room and seemed to be of upgraded decor with comfy beds. Hamad was our room cleaner and made sure he topped up our water, tea/ coffee daily and even left some towel art!! We ate mostly in the AUORA as our 1st visit to the Dunes was like a free for all, filthy tables, poor service, and numerous families running amok which is equal to a “Pontins” in the sun, so we never used it again. Although the food was just average but basic it’s was definitely not 5* quality. The soft drinks were branded so that was ok but alcoholic drinks were disgusting for an AI so again definitely not 5*. Most bar staff around the pool bars were of a rude nature and had a very untidy appearance,we even saw some smoking on the job, very unprofessional in the hospitality industry so again definitely not 5* star. Also Maybe all staff could do with a lesson on customer service(tipped or not!) We will finish this review on a positive note and say the grounds are kept immaculate by the hard graft of the gardeners who work tirelessly and in our opinion this is the only area that 5* in Jasmine place plus they were the only staff who deserved the tips we gave cos they didn’t expect them so hats off to every single man in this role. Our week here was relaxing with plenty on sunshine but we would not return to jasmine as there are plenty more on that strip of hotels which are 5* and better value for the working class!

Lovely Holiday

This year we fancied a change of Hotels, last 2yrs we've stayed at Sunny Beach Three Corners Hurghada.

This time we stayed at Jasmine Palace Spa & Resort - 2 Adults, 1 Child (16) - 29th June - 9th July through EasyJet, also private Transfers. Upon arrival to Hotel we were greeted with Hotel Reception Luggage Handler who took our cases - Reception was mmaculate, Air Conditioned, Very Clean, Staff Helpfull. We checked in and was shown to our room - Room, 1 Double Bed, 1 Single Bed (Pull out Chair Bed), Room was very dated, All Green with Mahogany wood, standard colours for Egypt I'd say. First few days there was not enough towels each day was asking for extra to Cleaner, who was Brilliant every day for our room, also not enough water for 3 days, again Cleaner brought extra after asking (gave him a few tips every other day) but upon leaving on Check out Day gave him £10 and he was very chuffed, couldn't have done more for our room after talking to him, also with his Towel-gami. Few Days 1 of the 2 Key Cards would stop working but Reception quickly switched for another 2 (by end of holiday think we had 6 Cards 🤣). First few days the mosquitos loved me (5 bites on 1 arm, also 1 on finger which went abit funny) mosquito plug used in room, Citronella Soap used daily and Mosquito bands worn....did help as never bitten again....lad was not bitten once, Wife never ever been bitten, only ended up with 3 bites.

In the Hotel there are 5 al la cartes - Mama Mia (Italian) Very Good food, Stanadard Italian Food but Slow Service (only 1 worker). Tiger Lilly (Chinese) Very Good, id say the best out of all, the Sushi was best ive had. Rasta Pasta, heard bad things, never ate there. Agave (mexican), never ate there. Jabur (indian) Very Good all round, again Good Food. All Restaurants & Bars had better options but these came at a charge which wasn't too badly priced. Jasmine Bar was on the 1st Floor (Reception) Lounge and was Air Conditioned (Thank God), most nights we had a Drink (or 2/3/4) here and also was an outside Terrace/Seating area. (Waiters would get to know you and bring Drinks, which we got to know and would also tip). Dunes Bar/Restaurant (Main) only went a few times for Breakfast/Tea as the Auro Hall was opposite us and was closer to our Block. Aurora Hall probably the better for breakfast (in my opinion) was closer for us tonuse each morning, would get up about 6.45, go to pool and get Sunbeds, have breakfast from 7, back to pool for 7.30/7.45, get Towels with Yowel card from 8am then Chill, to about 5pm. Pool (Active Bar) was the main Pool for everyone, also the Animation Team, which would come round about 9.45/10 and would really try to get you involved (sometimes we did), the Bar here served all Drinks, Snacks from 12.30pm (Chips n Nuggets) then Ice Cream and Slushy from 1pm. There was another 3 pools - Wave Pool/Bar which was Mainly Shaded and served Doughnuts & Waffles from 1pm, Kids Pool which was always full, Then another pool split into 3 with guards/fencing which had slides in also (tried only once 🤣), There was a number of life guards in each pool watching, as no Diving, Jumping of any sort was allowed (at first anyway). You can also ask for a Red Flag to stop some of the sellers like Hotel Spa, Massage, Juice Drinks, Beach Activities from bothering you. Person's i would have liked to see an info board for shows that was on for the week instead of each morningsome one saying/asking if you was going that night. Each morning i went to the Spa/Gym when opened 9am, for my 45minute workout immaculate.

We had 1 little missapp in our Bathroom, We were 1st floor, block 2...Building works in a room below, 1 room to right of us, son was in shower 1 morningand heard a bang, though a cleaner had come in but part of the Sink had collapsed on to the floor, he rang and told me so i went to look, seen a manager on our floor so i explained(best i could) what i thought had happened, you could feel the vibration in our room being felt all through the room, and I think this had an effect on it falling off. They did fix (with what looks like Gorilla Glue).

Onto the Beach, this is quite a big Beach with long pier, were towards the end of you can go snorkeling, did once but my/our kit wasnt the best. Had a Bar/Restaurant (Omni) also but didnt go in, tide was out most days and you could easily walk out a good 200mtr+ upto your ankles.

Outside the Hotel we knew about a few places - Senzo mall, reminds us abit of Trafford Centre, but we visited the night Egypt were playing Australia and it was rammed. We looked around a few of the Shops, but 1 shop was the go to Shop "Spinneys" and it had everything. Bought some trincits and snacks, very cheap prices for things. We got a Taxi which was about 15min taxi from Hotel Reception, about £8. Lucas Bar at the Marina, absolutely amazing, proppa English food-Sunday Roast, brilliant value for money, 3 Extra Large Roasts, and i mean Extra Large.... 3 Deserts, about 8/9 Drinks (£50ish), and best thing about it was Wigan Warriors was on and we beat St Helens, and there was 2 Saints fans in 🤣🤣.

The Hotel also showed the World Cup Football everyday and we were sat on the 2nd floor Terrace/Lounge most nights, and the best night was when Egypt beat Australia on Penaltys, Fireworks, Cheering all happening around us. When Egypt played Argentina, and was winning 2-0, it was like Euphoria around the Hotel, Egypt deserved to Win personally.

The Hotel Shops are bit highly priced, there are shops literally 5/10min walk down the street across the road, very cheap, but literally like flies round 💩when you arrive near them.

Hotel building works either side of hotel from 7.30am every morning.

Through out the Holiday we did here some "Accents" that sounded familiar...there was a Family from Manchester (sorry didnt catch names) we spoke to for a few days/nights, also had a drink with 1 night. A young couple from St Helens - Josh & Hannah, had a few little natters with. John & Tina who we spoke to everyday abit and had a Drink with 1 night 👍.

Overall it was a good Holiday, a few little niggles personally (but everyone makes it there own Holiday), Staff couldn't do enough some Days/Nights especially the Cleaners & Bar Staff.

If we could put this Hotel Size/Grounds at the Sunny Beach Three Corners grounds, I dont think we would go anywhere else on Holiday, but overall it was somewhere new on our 3rd year in Egypt. Would we come back? Possibly just myself & wife, I personally dont think its a place for 14/15yr old+, id say mainly upto 14yr olds.

A Lot of ups and downs

This hotel has given me soo much memories for both good and bad. We arrived on the 24th June and we landed back safely in the UK a couple of days ago. The first day we got there was a disaster but that was mainly family issues and the staff were extremely helpful to show us to our room for the first time. The room me and my family were given was really nice and genuinely couldn't complain about it; however my other family members had slight concerns in their rooms so I do not know if it is due to some selection of some rooms and the eldest has accessibility problems so she was not able to use the room she was in for showers, etc. We talked to the reception about this concern and they helped us out straight away with a new room able for my nana. Now for the food it was a bit dodgy. I am a picky eater but there was a lot of good options for everyone to choose from. I did try a lot of the things but the pasta was top tier. The food was all lovely but some of the concerns about sickness after eating some of the food is somewhat true. Most of my family fell un well with diarrhoea and sickness throughout the holiday, with me hitting it the hardest as i experienced it all throughout the holiday. It was significant for the first 2-3 days but after that it was come and go after that. I believe that i could have gotten alcohol poisoning from the nights out i had. Other than the sickness, the rest of the holiday was immaculate. The hotel is very large and theres stuff for everyone, from the chill areas around the wave pool to the entertainment are around the active pool. The entertainment team were like family and always welcomed me with a huge grin and they are genuinely some of the most funniest people you will ever meet. The entertainment around the day was really good around the active pool with their club dances, water polo and random festivals on different days, However the night time entertainment could be slightly improved as we decided we didn't want to watch full parts of it. Also, the hotel has a lot of bars to choose from and it really is easy to get a sun bed in the morning. The lifeguards are always soo kind and without a doubt some of the nicest people there. The only problem with these bars is that they wash the cups with their water, which is unsafe to drink. So that could also be another factor on why we was all ill. The hotel isnt that far to places like the Senzo mall (10 mins) and the Marina (30-45 mins). So if you want to go out and explore its pretty easy to if you order a taxi for the right amount. Overall, it was a really interesting experience for me and my family. I really enjoyed it but some of my family members were excited to go home. If I am going to be honest, this 5 star hotel is an average 3 star hotel in the UK, but that is the standards the Egyptian hotels have and a lot of other hotels will be similar to this one. I genuinely really enjoyed this hotel and we are coming again in February 2027. I hope you all find this extremely helpful and if you come to this hotel, I hope you have as much fun as I did!
