Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
It’s not a new hotel (reviews are misleading). We stayed on the same complex 16 years ago. They took a part of the Royal Makadi (rooms), built a new reception and a few restaurants and gave it a new name. The new parts are lovely, nicely designed and look great (very boutique). Rooms are small and poorly renovated.
It should’ve been converted to adults only hotel!!! There are no facilities for kids and people still bring them in! We thought you’d need to be mad to come here with kids, and the hotel was full of them. The pool was full of screaming kids.
The beach was full of kids and the corals are 80% dead. It was great years ago, but the climate change has contributed to the change!
It was very noisy! Loud music everywhere, staring in the morning and finishing at 10pm. There was no escape, as you could hear it in the room or on beach at night. We came back exhausted! The entertainment was very poor (saying that, my husband liked the stretching in the mornings).
The food was great, although we’re vegetarian and we were served beef once. I love that everything was served of the menu!!! It wasn’t repetitive and there was always something to choose from (although lost in translation happened every single day). There was no food waste, as you can see in other places!
The Beduin Night was amazing! Food was authentic, nicely presented and the entertainment was great! It’s definitely a highlight of this place! Please remember to take an apple and banana for Casanova, the camel 🐪
The Posh Club is a joke! You pay additional 250 dollars a day and you can access a restricted area (pool, day restaurant and bar). It divides the hotel into two parts, so be aware of this when you check reviews. When we were there there was only one couple in the pool (where the other pool was overcrowded). The brochure says there are 3 swimming pools, which is incorrect, as one of the belongs to the Posh Club!
The staff were amazing!
In short, the hotel needs to be changed to Adults only, and the Posh Club needs to removed. The entertainment needs to be upgraded, so guest can relax.
Great hotel with a lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious food. The entertainment team was amazing and made our stay even more enjoyable. Highly recommended!
We recently stayed at Sunrise Tucana in building 18 and were blown away by the property’s beauty. The hotel’s boho-chic design and attention to detail are truly stunning. Our room was gorgeous, and we must give a special mention to our housekeeper, who was the best staff member in the hotel; he kept our room spotless and his towel art was amazing.
The service and dining were highlights. The reception team was professional and welcoming—they even provided a room upgrade. In the restaurant, we were taken care of by the wonderful Zenat, and the lady baking fresh Arabic bread was lovely. The food was consistently fantastic, especially the Italian à la carte; the steak and truffle gnocchi were world-class. Drinks were great, especially the fresh juices and coffee, though the beer could have been colder.
However, the entertainment and music quality were a major disappointment. While the Bedouin night was fantastic and we really enjoyed the authentic performance by the Bedouin band, the rest of the evening entertainment was a disaster. The singers at the Rooftop Bar sounded amateurish, like people just starting to learn how to sing, and their performances were honestly painful to listen to. It felt as if random people were pulled off the street, given instruments and a microphone, and told to perform. Even the promised DJ sessions were lifeless. It is baffling that such a high-end resort settles for such poor-quality performances, and frankly, I would have much preferred to listen to the Bedouin band all day and night rather than those singers.
Additionally, the animation team needs better training. While some staff were great, others showed a clear preference for guests of a specific nationality, which felt unprofessional and exclusionary.
Overall, we would return for the stunning infrastructure and incredible food, but the quality of the evening entertainment and the inconsistency in service standards are significant issues that hold this otherwise brilliant resort back. We truly hope management addresses this, as the current entertainment is well below the standard expected of such a beautiful hotel.
Beautiful hotel, the food is amazing and staff is amazing. Big shout out to Joo made us feel very welcome and we will come back! 5**
I Will start off by saying this hotel was a please to stay at and can’t wait to be HOME. First time in Egypt and won’t be my last.
We arrived very late, check in was smooth and straight to our rooms. Nice upgrade to a swim up room and posh club as we had originally booked to stay in the sister hotel which isn’t yet built.
The downside of check-in in late we weren’t really told what to expect, just shown the room and off you go. Where as if you arrive in the day is you don’t get told where everything is, what your room entails and the privileges you get with the Posh Club. If you do get upgraded at the hotel you will NOT get the Complimentary transfer from and to the Airport, VIP welcoming with Sparkling Wine by Butler & Club Manager upon arrival.
There is apparently is access to the Posh Club lounge, I have no idea where this was…..
Royal breakfast, no idea what this was…
The Room
Room was a decent size, mini bar restocked every day and cleaned every day by the hard-working staff and the Swim up room and clean. I will say the bed was a little hard for me but that’s just me.
We had a butler, AN ACTUAL BUTLER. Wow this blew me away, initially we had Ahmed then changed to Yousef, now Yousef is the calmest of men I’ve ever encountered. Absolutely lovely man, always at the end of a call and helped with every question I had, helped with reservations with restaurants and room service. This man needs to be more recognised and I do hope this gets back to him and pass on our greatest of wishes. I hope he is still here when I come back maybe next year or the year after.
I can’t speak for the non-posh club rooms; the laundry serve was 5* left the laundry by 9am and was back around 5pm
Pools
The swim up room was fantastic although I spent most of my day by the posh club pool. We always got a bet or pagoda here, we could never get a bed at the main pool as people put their towels down to reserve the bed, The staff at the posh club pool were amazing, these boys made my stay one of the best, Mando, Ade, Samer to name a couple. I was actually so sad leaving as these boys made my stay all the more magical. Always knew what we wanted, in and tonic and a glass of wine 😊
But there seemed to be a lot more happening at this pool entertainment wise in the day, so if you have young children the main pool is the place to be.
Food and drink
The soft drinks were okay, asked for diet or sugar free at the bars (other than coke) but there were none available as my husband is diabetic, but the mini bar had diet coke.
The fresh coffee and juices at breakfast were great. Breakfast in the main restaurant was lovely, wasn’t sure what to expect with a la carte breakfast but you can help yourself to continental, croissant, fruit yoghurt’s, meat etc and you order your eggs sausages and bacon etc off the menu. Yades lovely food, The Italian also lovely
The food in general though was fantastic the tastes and variety were amazing. Especially the Bedouin night we really enjoyed the authentic performance by the Bedouin band. The food at the Bedouin night was fantastic. I loved every minute of this night. Food changes daily so you wont the same option the next day.
Entertainment The entertainment isn’t great. Some of the singers were good, others were not – the band with the singer and the saxophone thought this was awful. Over all entertainment wasn’t very great, hit and miss. But the staff on the animation team were lovely and are trying the best they can, there was no entertainment at the Posh club area. There were a couple of times we went up to the rooftop for a “party” at Yades , Joe and Seb had us dancing and the Brazilian dancers were great too.
The cleanliness of the hotel is mind blowing, there is someone always working, the Gardens are beautiful and best well-kept gardens I have ever seen on a holiday they are immaculate.
I would stay away from the sister hotels pharmacy, they ripped me off, lesson learned, also the shops near reception, I was suckered into the shop and fought hard to get away, my polite no thanks turned into half an hour of my time, If you need to change money the downside is the ATM’s are by these shops. Towels - you get a card to trade for a towel, lovely quality towels too
Overall, if you are considering booking this hotel, do it it’s a lovely hotel, amazing staff and I can’t wait to come back. One of the best hotels I have been to and I have travelled most continents.
