Jaz Makadi Oasis Resort truly is a holiday oasis of comfort and tranquility. The resort sits back about a 250 meters from the private beach operated by the Madinat Makadi resort complex - bathe in the Red Sea and can arrange exciting activities including scuba diving and windsurfing with extra charge. Its even possible to organize excursions into the desert and mountain - home to Bedouin villages - oases and ancient ruins.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
This hotel is one of a number on a massive complex. Lots of facilities but a distance from Hurghada making it very isolated. A shuttle bus would be fantastic. All the facilities are great, pool, food etc. Hotel is kept immaculate. On line booking for the ALACARTE restaurant almost impossible to use Website clunky and uploads at a snails pace. Unfortunately smoking is encouraged in all areas including pool, terraces. Why cannot rooms/public areas be designated as non smoking areas?
Fourteenth visit to this hotel. Just love the staff, nothing is too much trouble. The hotel grounds and beach are kept very clean. Just love the location for snorkeling round the house reef. Food court on the beach, with waiter service if you don't want to get your own.
This is our second time here and next year is booked already. We are in our element here. It is time where the three of us, myself and two daughters get quality time together. The hotel makes everything so smooth and that is what I really like. The hotel is well ran, you can tell staff are happy. Everyone works so hard. I feel the hotel will try hard to make everything run smoothly, they have boundaries and i really like that as I beleive that is why everything is so spot on. Security is high and you couldn't be safer. I thank the staff at this hotel for making everything so perfect, the holiday is saved for every month to be able to have this experience and all those that contribute to the magic make it worth every penny. Thank you to everyone at Jaz Oasis ✨️
Good stay, great cleaning, ehab was excellent every day, providing us, with everything we need, , thank you very much!
First of all it's worth saying that the multi-JAZ hotel complex is nice, with free access to a huge water park (with free bus transfer). It's a pleasant short walk from the Oasis hotel to the large beach on Makadi bay, which is great for snorkelling (especially the small coral reef off the pier - which had a turtle and rays etc on some days!). The Buffet is ok, with several similar options each day (typically beef related stews or roasts, with random fish and chicken dishes and stuff from the grill, the usual basic cakes and fruit...pizza or burgers also available for lunch from the pool stands...n.b. no pork products). Staff were mostly fine. The room was clean...bed was firm. We went at the end of August into September - last part of the school holidays. Temp was ~38 degrees most days with no clouds, so great if you can hack it and slap on the sunblock. It's also mean its essentially out of season for Egypt, with less customers (shorter cues, and plenty of sun loungers!). Seemed to have a mix of Germans, some Russians and Brits...
However, contrary to the mostly good reviews we read before booking our holiday, our experience wasn't all rosy! We had numerous issues: Food poisoning for 2 of us - just look up "Pharaoh's Revenge" and you'll get the idea!...and no, we didn't drink the water and limited the salad. As such, recommend packing some loperamide! Also, poor customer service on front deck (except for Abdhullah who was excellent); absolutely rubbish spa (their 'classic'/Swedish was worst massage we've had for years - didn't listen, focused on wrong areas, poor technique (mainly knuckles and elbows) and stopped well before the 50 mins was up!). There wasn't much sport/daily entertainment (only a couple of things each day at 11.30 and 3.30 - there's plenty of staff so why not do more all day and change to different things like archery or water polo/volleyball if nobody wants to do volleyball on the beach in 38 degree heat????? n.b. we did archery one day - they only have 1 bow available so you only get a couple of turns, and they have no safety equipment like arm guards to provide, so be careful). In our room we had a leaking and noisy air conditioner (had engineer out twice, who gave us a lesson on how to programme the controller instead of actually taking a proper look at it - so it continued to wake us up and leak all over the floor). Bits of wall were regularly falling down on us from above our hotel room door (they swept up each day rather than patch up the failing plaster). In the evening they a had a guy telling people the main restaurant was full so we had to use the smaller buffet restaurant instead (after doing this for 4 days we went in a different entrance and found about a third of tables still available and ready to go - no problem getting seated in main restaurant - so WHY LIE to customers!!!! I assume they just wanted some people to use the other one, but they could have phrased it as a request instead!). N.b. they charge extra for fresh orange juice at breakfast (but on some days you can get oranges to make your own) and they do not give many alternative juice options in the buffet (surprising when considering the bars had loads of choice). Juice dispensers were not refilled regularly, especially on the beach, and sometime had the wrong juice vs. the label. Unfortunately they restricted snorkelling area with a buoy line - with no access to the main reef which otherwise would be reachable from the shore (I assume because the centre wants you to pay for snorkelling boat trips). However you can access a few small coral reefs from the pier and go out of the bay to see more life (just beware of boats). AND finally, the worst customer service I've had from a PADI dive centre (SCUBA WORLD DIVERS) in 25 years - a company who's policy it is to fleece divers an extra 42 euro for a 'check dive' even if they're very experienced (hundreds of dives) and have dove recently, and had checked and agreed pricing and terms before arrival via email! They wouldn't even include the check dive as part of the 6 dive package agreed - it had to be an extra charge. Consequently I walked to the next resort and booked with Extra Divers instead, who were more accommodating, had a bigger nicer dive boat, and gave me a discount when they heard what happened.
A la carte restaurants - nice to have several restaurant choices, but then they only give 1 as part of your all inclusive, plus one more that had to be the restaurant on site (which for us was the Arabic - which we didn't want as it was similar to the buffet). Also 'The Grill' restaurant was ok, but the first round of steaks all were sent back as they all came well done instead of how we asked (not a good outcome for a steakhouse!). We also went to their Asian restaurant - also ok, with reasonable choices - n.b. Schezwan beef was easily the best dish.
Internet is bearable, but it kept logging us out and not recognising our details so needed to go back to reception several times. Generally staff in the restaurants were nice and the room was fine (with impressive towel origami skills from Ali). In short, if it wasn't for the nice location and the efforts of Abdullah to help us - we would have been scored a lot less!
