All staff at the Hotel were very helpful nothing was too much trouble. Shame its being knocked down this year.
Disappointed in the hotel this year, the water was cold in the room, the breakfasts were fine but the dinners left a lot to be desired, food not cooked properly and when beef or pork joints were on the menu they were chopped into chunks instead of being sliced. I understand that the hotel is closing after this season for refurbishment and we were told that all the best chefs had left.
The hotel was in need of refurbishment! As many people have commented on trip advisor! Certainly not four stars !Chipped tiles in the bathroom In the foyer there was wall sockets that were not correctly attached to the wall The food was average ! Scrambled eggs were powdered ! The orange juice was not fresh ! At times watered down However staff were friendly and hard working and accommodating
All staff very friendly and helpful pleased to receive our special request for a sea view!
The food was bad,if I say the chief was carving a chicken drum stick, you will understand every meal it was a spoon full of bits of meat,by the end of the week it was chicken sausages not nice, the jucuzzy someone had put bubbles into the jurcuszy the week before we went so they just emptied it and covered it so no small pool,my group was 3 adults who weren't good swimmers so no pool for the week and it was very hot the big pool was to busy and the island pool to deep, the staff are still wonderful the bar where you could sit and socials with friends and watch football was shut only opened 1 night when there was a thunderstorm and it was then full I know it is closing but they shouldn't charge top price when it isn't a top hotel wont be going again
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Fortina Hotel. Stunning view. Nice room. Lovely food( especially Table 1 restaurant). Excellent pool area ( very clean with free towels). Staff were all nice and friendly. The only downside was the price of the drinks but we stocked our fridge in the room from the local supermarket and sat on our balcony to soak in the exquisite view. It is a pity that this hotel is closing as i would love to return.
Lovely hotel, good food & very helpful and friendly staff. Private transfers excellent.
Lovely sea view balcony, what a greeting! The food was very good with good choices and the room cleaned every day. Close to buses and boats for easy access. Free harbour cruise and spa.
Only spoilt on the last 2 nights by a smoker in the next room which meant I couldn't enjoy the balcony in an evening.
Fantastic hotel, great location with great views. Very clean and good food, dine around option great idea. Very polite helpfully staff. The only negative was we found the drinks in Hotel expensive.
Good hotel well worth it's 4stars
Set with great views over the bay of the capital.
first class hotel would return again.
Drinks at hotel were very expensive and served
in plastic cups
The highlight of this hotel is the friendliness and efficency of all the staff
Position of hotel was excellent. Needed some upgrading in some areas.
The food in the main restaurant was cold, sausage some days can not be cut, that's breakfast. Evening meal, fruit salad is apple (golden delicious) after complaint next day some red apple added.
This is a 4 star hotel, it would not make 3 star!
Had the perfect room and would have booked again except we have heard that the hotel is being demolished to build apartments.
Very satisfied, really enjoyed our break.
The eat around facility was a nice change for some evening dinners,
Excellent in all respects. Quiet clean and comfortable.
Hotel was situated centrally for visiting places on Malta. Near to bus stops and ferry across to the capital Valletta.
Tea & coffee making facilities in rooms. Water nice and hot.
Staff very nice. . No problems at all.
Whilst we had an excellent room, having been upgraded to a superior seaview room, the buffet meals in the main restaurant were disappointing although booked meals in the other restaurants were quite good. The reception staff were not always very helpful . The hotel facilities were good, but the layout of the hotel was unusual. The lifts operated well as did most of the equipment in the room etc. The Rep gave a good briefing on our first full day but we never saw him again.
Wonderful outlook across to Valletta from the hotel room - certainly worth paying a little more for the sea view.
We really enjoyed the choice of different restaurants in the hotel
The guest rooms are a little tired looking and I understand refurbishment is planned. The hotel bar was disappointing and unwelcoming The breakfast buffet was acceptable but unvaried and the evening buffet mediocre however the Table 1 restaurant was lovely on each occasion we used it. In all the holiday was like vela and the hotel staff helpful.
The Fortina has definately improved since our last visit 2 years ago. We were upgraded to a Superior Garden Room from deluxe garden room - wonderful. Very peaceful - better than being on the front of the hotel.
Staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The attention in the 5* was so good.
Would certainly return.
Lovely hotel fantastic view across harbour to Valletta. Had a really enjoyable holiday will hopefully go back next year.
Very good hotel clean good choice of food good location
Hotel rooms/accommodation a bit dated needs a make over. Staff excellent, facilities excellent, location for me was just in the right place. Tour representative excellent and very informative, I booked a few tours with this lady which all turned out to be excellent.
It was my first ever visit to Malta, so I went with an open mind, I loved it, what a fantastic holiday destination, I will certainly be going back, to stay at the hotel Fortina. I found Mercury travel a very competent company to use, very efficient, I could not say any negatives about this travel company, I would use you again without any hesitation.
Nice central location within easy walking distance of transport and good promanade
Hotel staff very friendly and helpful.
Room 711 was excellent but could have done with a little more drawer space
Hotel was very good with wonderful view across harbour to Valetta.. Ample space in bedroom and bathroom but could have done with a second bedside table. Also needed shelf in bathroom for wash bag etc. Always plenty of hot water for shower and plenty of coffee and teabags for refreshments. Wifi was brilliant in room and around hotel.
Fantastic view from our balcony over Valetta. Loved the location of the hotel and the spa and other facilities. Staff were helpful and answered all our questions.
Really good gym. The Dine-around is a great idea. A bit noisy at the front but the view made up for this. Can't comment on the spa - didn't use it. Or the pools as it a bit chilly for swimming. Good location and a nice break. Travel was easy (Ryan Air is what you would expect). The free harbour trip was cancelled due to the weather - sea too rough.
Without exception the hotel staff were most accommodating and helpful.
My wife is gluten free and the staff quickly registered this and always ensured she had what she needed. The service in the dining rooms was excellent.
The rep Jonathon was knowledgeable and always made sure we were aware of what was available and was suited to our needs. My wife walks with a walking stick as she has MS. The help we received from him was much appreciated and ensured we were able to do what we wanted.
Very well situated with all transport links to the rest of the island easily reached.
The buffet was excellent in choice and quality. The staff were friendly and polite.
A very nice experience all round in fact, my husband did not want to leave and wished we had booked for at least 3 weeks!
Excellent staff and the dine around is fantastic
Very good hotel wont to go back later this year but told by hotel staff that the Hotel is closing at the end of October. The staff were good and helpful but do not know what is happening to the hotel.
Can you please help as we would like to book again next year.
The Hotel is ideally situated for a great Malta Holiday. The hotel is very good quality and the food selection in the many restaurants is wide and varied and at any one sitting you can be sure to get your five a day! The local bread is to die for!
Omitted from the description are many plus points - all the rooms have fridges (very handy) as well as a full set of toiletries (soap, shampoo, shower gel, moisturiser, sowing kit, shoe shine, shower cap etc etc.) I would have saved some weight and not brought my own if I had known.
The room was very spacious with comfortable beds, very quiet and relaxing.
fantastic hotel and brilliant value for money. we realise the price was a special winter rate but it was a great insentive to visit malta for our first time. we will be back and are likely to come via mercury.
The hotel catered very well for my gluten free diet except for desserts where my choice was limited to only fruit or ice cream. I feel that more effort could have been made to provide a better choice. Also, breakfast fruit was very limited and a prepared fruit salad was only ever available on 1 morning. The service in the table service restaurants was fairly slow but this was due to the fact that there was mainly only ever 1 waiter/waitress on duty so they were extremely busy. My only other comment is that I did not find that the staff were particularly friendly. Especially in the spa reception. They weren't rude or unhelpful but just not particularly friendly, smiling or welcoming which would have made a more enjoyable holiday experience. The exception was our housekeeper who always greeted us with a smile.
Extremely good value for money
The hotel is in a great location. The choice of restaurants is excellent. The quality of the room was first class with all the amenities we required.
There was plenty to do at the hotel, spas, pools and reading material.
The room (607) was faultless - clean, spacious, lovely bathroom and the room had a lovely panoramic view of Silema. All staff were very helpful and I would definitely recommend the hotel to family and friends
Very impressed with the service cleanliness food and comfort
I suggest that this may be the most conveniently located hotel in Malta for independent sightseeing.
Food was good, especially the speciality restaurants. The reservation system works well. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout the hotel.
Upgraded to sea view room, a lovely surprise, thank you!
Plenty of gluten free food, again an unexpected surprise.
The hotel is in a wonderful location and the staff were excellent.
We were very pleased and happy with our accommodation and arrangements.
We enjoyed the food, spa and our guide was very informative and helpful. We had a great holiday.
We had a good holiday, thank you.
We were as impressed with this holiday as with our previous Croatian Cruise. Our room was excellent.
Overall excellent holiday. Hotel lovely and the idea of 'dine around' excellent. Reception staff really helpful. Cleaning staff were really good cleaning to high standard.
Great view, great hotel and people
Excellent value for money - Mercury Repesentative first class - I must say the most helpful we have ever had over many years of holidaying. Loved the Dine Around - that made our 2 weeks!
Quite Pleased. A great holiday.
Excellent! We stayed at the Fortina for the first time last year. We find that you are the best price and comprehensive instructions are always issued - we may have used you more often over the last 20 years visiting Malta. The hotel is excellent and we could not have wished for better room.
Great holiday, well done!
Hotel was excellent overall and we had a fantastic holiday, and would certainly use Mercury again.
Beautiful 4 Star Hotel. Very clean and obliging to our needs.
Nice Hotel. Good pool. Beautiful view over to Valletta.
Good range of options to eat at.
Fantastic hotel, staff very polite and friendly. Food in the dine around restaurants superb. Had a lovely break, everything ran very smoothly.
The Fortina was excellent. We were upgraded to a de-luxe garden view room which was huge! The service at reception was extremely helpful, and booking a table at the various restaurants, within the dine around option, was simplicity itself. The food, especially in Table 1 was very (very!) good. The only word of warning I would issue, is that if by any chance any of your party is coeliac- gluten intolerant- be careful at Il Giardino, the Italian restaurant. Although they do pizzas with a gluten free base, somehow they must have become contaminated, because she was quite ill for a short while afterwards. There was plenty of room around the pool(s) with more than enough loungers. I suppose fault can always be found if one looks hard enough for it. Quite frankly however,I thought the whole experience lived up to and exceeded our expectations. In all honesty, if anyone is thinking about booking the Fortina, I would advise you to go for it. I don't think you will regret it. I' m not a person who normally eulogises about anything really, but I have to say this holiday was a most enjoyable week.
Good. However see below re dine around facility.
Have been to this Hotel before and the high standards have been maintained during our May holiday 2016
Evening entertainment was only geared to the elderly. Would suggest a possible disco night or evening background music more suited to all ages.
excellent hotel facilities - the "dine around" option is particularly good
Would have preferred full balcony rather than half.
Appreciated the dine around.
Poor quality towels in bathroom.
My daughter & I had a lovely holiday. Jonathan our Mercury rep & Collette (assistant Manager) were excellent and went out of their way to get us booked into the garden restaurants. The spa treatments were excellent. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was cleaned to a very high standard each day. I would not hesitate in recommending Mercury Travel to my family & friends.
We particularly enjoyed the buffet-style restaurant (La Vallette) where the food was varied and of a high standard. The restaurant was very clean and well organised. The chefs were very accommodating and professional. All reception staff were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The cleaners were hard-working and thorough. We felt comfortable and welcome in the hotel. Excellent value for money.
The hotel was excellent apart from one unfortunate experience we had with the dine around when we we went with friends from the hotel to the Chinese/Thai restaurant. The waiter was extremely rude and condescending because we were 4 star, not 5 star. The service was , quite frankly appalling! We were booked for 7 30 and we waited and waited to be served. We finally left the restaurant at gone 10 o clock. And the waiter who was so rude refused to give us his name. The food when it came was good ,but we have never experienced anything like this standard of service in our lives and we have holidayed all over the world! Other than this, all the hotel staff were lovely, friendly, helpful and polite!
excellent hotel and position food very good staff helpfull
We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a 5* room
and it ticked all the boxes.
Met all expectations - lovely setting. Disappointing on dine-around that the pizza restaurant remained closed throughout - despite being told by reception each day that it would open 'the next day'. Japanese restaurant was dull and noticeably less popular than others. Mediterranean restaurant was particularly good in quality and service. Free Thallasso and Spa sessions were hugely enjoyable, Mercury brochure should make clearer the respective views from 'garden' and 'sea' sides. Timeshare operation was annoying and from comments on Tripadvisor has been a frustration to guests for a long time
The Fortina is good in lots of ways- nice staff, amazing view, excellent gym. Good value for money. Japanese restaurant was excellent.
Seemed a bit pre season with not everything available & sitting out areas still being painted. We were disappointed that although our room had a superb view it had no balcony from which to really enjoy it.
Very good facilities and excellent location. Was disappointed with two of the restaurants in the dine around programme. The selection and quality of food in the Indian was poor as was the service. The food in the Japanese restaurant was poor on the half board menu. Have stayed in this hotel before and believe the menu in the dine around facility has deteriorated. On a positive note Table One restaurant remains very good.
We were disappointed that we were not allocated a superior sea view room as requested on booking and e-mail request.
The room we were given was very nice however, although not a sea view.
Well presented, always clean and welcoming.Staff very helpful.Would recommend this hotel .
Very good hotel. The hotel bedroom was comfortable; The chambermaid, Marie, was excellent. Very helpful and courteous staff. The gardens are delightful.
This was my wife and my 4th successive visit with Mercury to the 4-star Fortina and the best stay yet. Our deluxe twin bed garden room number 328 was perfect for us, very quiet. I trust if we book again for 2017 we can request the same room again. As usual your on site representative Jonathan provided excellent advice and help. The service at the 'dine around' Japanese restaurant improved dramatically from our experience in 2015.
Our tenth visit to the Fortina and excellent standards are still being maintained. Catering staff did a magnificent themed spread for St Patrick's Day which we really appreciated.
Very speedy service from maintenance dept. for minor technical problems.
Swimming and Thalasso pools nicely upgraded since our last visit.
Table 1 and Chinese restaurants made a nice change having waiter service but we think the great choice on the buffet is the real winner.
it was lovely and the spa trial was great
Excellent view overlooking the harbour
The hotel and location were fantastic. Views of Valletta were amazing. For the amount we paid I went expecting not very much but was extremely impressed by the high quality of everything. Thank you Mercury Holidays!
Bathroom floor very dangerous when wet.
Staff very helpful.minor defects in bathroom and carpet was dirty which we found out when we walked bear foot. Didn't like harassment by timeshare agents in the hotel which a lot of guests complained about.
Room was a good size and had a beautiful view across to Valletta. Choice of food was good.
This was our 5th visit to the Fortina and we felt that the hotel was looking a bit jaded and in need of face lift. We upgraded to a sea view room and got a superior sea view...thank you.......but it left a lot to be desired to be called a superior room, the chair arms lifted every time you held them....only one chair in the room for two people, and the bathroom was decidedly gloomy and small, the bath was chipped in three places.
Having got my grumbles out of the way, we once again thought the hotel was great and always recommend it to our friends who have used the hotel on several occasions. Reception and dining room staff were lovely, as always. We will certainly come again, it is our winter get away and we always love it.
Room never hovered in a week! Also rather cramped.
Buffet food good but tables too close together and very noisy.
Staff efficient but not very friendly.
Excellent location and views
We booked a garden room but were given a sea view room with sunny balcony. So although a small room we were pleased. Housekeeping, reception were all excellent. food was good. The mediterrean restaurant had the best service and food. the Thai/chinese had excellent food but service a little chaotic. The main buffet had good service and a good choice of food.
Regrettably one restaurant advertised had closed, and a second, the Indian, served very poor standard food, offered no suitable vegetarian options, and had very poor service.
There was some entertainment at the hotel, and that pleased us as we were told that it was almost non-existent at this hotel.
Lots of food variety - I enjoyed the soups the most!
Bedroom.. we found that the staff did not have enough time to deal with the room ..it generally looked untidy, and unkempt. The ladies tried to do their best, but I think there was not enough time to do a 'good' .job.
Food very bland cocktail lounge closed for outside parties nowhere to sit unless you went next door
The Dine Around facility makes this hotel an attractive proposition. However instead of treating such diners as 2nd class citizens with limited choice menus why not let us choose from the full menu and pay the difference between the bill and the allowance amount. We ate in the Chinese on 3 occasions in 21 days and had Menu A on all 3 occasions.
We stayed at this hotel two years ago and at that time it was excellent. We were supposed to be upgraded to a Superior Seaview but in our opinion it was not. The room was adequate but the bathroom was extremely small and was certainly in need of refurbishment. The food in restaurant was adequate but not exceptional. The room we stayed in was 205 and I would appreciate your view whether you thought that it was Superior.
The Italian restaurant had a very poor choice available. The main course HAD to be a pizza. Disappointing compared to the other restaurants which were of a different standard altogether.
First class all round and we will definitely come again. Ideal location and close to bus stops and the Valletta ferry. Excellent value.
Very congested dining room at times, particularly breakfast; staff slow at clearing used dishes. Salad bar basic and repetitious, limited choices, ie always sliced processed ham as meat choice.
Dinner hot food choices were good. Indian restaurant in dine around option served a very limited choice from fixed menu, possibly worst Indian meal anywhere, ever (ie fragments of onion bajee starter on bed of shredded white cabbage? Far from an authentic starter. Four malteser sized balls of minced lamb in lots of thin sauce with boiled rice as main course). Paltry ice-cream dessert.
Spacious bedroom on 5th floor excellent with rear views over garden area, cool in unexpectedly hot spell in December. Plenty of clean towels and excellent housekeeping staff.
Excellent service and food couldn't have got better value
arrived at hotel at 11.30 was told by reception come back at 14.00pm rooms not ready on the 14th December my fleece jacket was taken out of my room I complained to reception they was not interested asked to see hotel manager he checked to see who had been in room only the cleaners he then went on to say prove it was stolen from your room in other words not interested I am not very happy with this also I was pestered by a representive of the hotel for timeshare see below
Great location, right on the seafront, with a shopping mall immediately behind.
Wonderful room. Hotel in good location and choice of restaurants very good.
All staff friendly & helpful - location of hotel was one main reasons for selecting the same - on seafront, close to ferry & bus stops for ease of travelling around Malta
La Valletta Restaurant is in fact a refectory, and very noisy. Table 1 restaurant excellent.
The single room i had was unbearably warm and they would not switch the air con on. Overall still a decent hotel.
During our stay they closed the lounge & cocktail
Bar on the morning it was closed.we were advised to use the fortina spa. On receiving our final bill we were surprised to find we were charge 2 euros
Per drink more than our bar without any warning.
One evening we were told again that the
Late evening meal was closed for an outside party.
On serverall nights in the dining room it was extremely noisey in fact intolerable, a lack of staff
Disregarded the residents infavour of the outside
guests, tables weren't cleared between courses There is a distinct lack of communication
Between hotel management and residents.
But regards these faults it is still a good holiday hotel, and it was very enjoyable holiday.
The hotel service was made worse by the closure of a bar and a restaurant . Alternative restaurants were often fully booked. Reception staff not particularly helpful.
Booked a sea view room but given a garden view room and upgraded to "wellness" room. Did not use wellness equipment but very much appreciated the larger room. Did miss sea views though.
Dine around restaurants were good; except for Japanese restaurant, poor service, poor food, poor choices.
Difficulty in booking some restaurants and sauna, had to persuade hotel staff to help to avoid returning to front desk every hour.
Overall - the hotel was very good and enjoyable.
Self service restaurant ok.
Table 1restaurant very good, Chinese, Japanese good, Itallian OK for pizza, would have like pasta option.
Would have been better if the hotel had a bar/cafe.
Booking for dine around was difficult. Restaurants were usually booked up in advance.
Italian restaurant was a pizzeria.
We had a wonderful view from our room of the harbour across to Valetta. The food in the buffet was good but we particularly enjoyed the dine around system where there was a choice of 5 excellent restaurants. The staff in the hotel were always polite and helpful, in fact we can't wait to go back!
Dinner arrangements had not been made for our late arrival on the first day. Fortunately the Hotel helped us out with a nearby restaurant.
Your advertisement indicated a number of restaurants to choose from within the hotel facility. It also said that advance booking was advisable, but not days in advance as our experience found. As a result in practice our choice was extremely limited.
Lovely hotel lives up to its good reputation
A very good holiday, I am sure we will do it again.
A very good holiday, I am sure we will do it again.
A very good holiday, I am sure we will do it again.
We were upgraded by the hotel to the Fortina Spa Resort. Excellent.
We asked for a high up sea view room and were delighted to get exactly what we had requested.
Good location with easy access to all shops and other facilities for day trip. The hotel is clean , comfortable and provides good selection of tasty food.
We had a very nice sea facing room, it was quite small but clean and had everything we needed. We would definitely go back.
The hotel was simply beyond criticism and the food particularly met all our expectations.
The room was most comfortable with a view of Valletta beyond anything weve ever enjoyed before.
All staff were obliging and helpful and always responded in a pleasant manner.
We will definitely return.
Staff efficient, hard to interact with but may be cultural.
Had to ask for information when I would have expected some of it to be standard information that could have been in the Hotel Information pack in the rooms.
We were-upgraded to a Deluxe Seaview room 614. Which was a lovely bonus as we were celebrating our 49th Wedding Anniversary The view of Valletta from our room was magnificent
The main dinning room and food is excellent with very friendly and polite staff
Excellent view over to Valletta from bedroom balcony. Choice of 5 restaurants on Dine Around half board really good. Particularly liked Table 1 Taste Restaurant - excellent food.
We very much appreciated the included harbour cruise, the sea view and the spa sessions.
We also liked the chance to dine in different restaurants.
Very helpful Reception staff. Comfortable, large quiet room.
All Staff were very friendly, courteous and helpful.
Wonderful holiday! The hotel was excellent. Mercury's assistance at all stages of the holiday process from original booking to returning home was, as always, first class. Thank you.
Overall an excellent hotel to stay and central to all amenities, would come again, a very enjoyable stay, thank you.
Friendly helpful hotel staff. Very clean comfortable room. Maid service always good.
The weather was very rainy and windy so having a good hotel made the holiday enjoyable.
Lift to dining area broke down on a few occasions. some of the leisure areas not fully working. Staff very helpful. Will stay again
Hotel cannot be faulted and food was first class.
Very helpful and friendly staff.
Another enjoyable stay at the Fortina four star. We were delighted to be allocated the room we had requested. Jonathan was as usual most informative and helpful. On the negative side were disappointed in the change of policy re television programmes, now having to pay extra for programmes that were previously free!We also felt the Spa area was not up to previous standards with poor maintenance.
All things being considered. a most enjoyable holiday - Great value for money!!
Ann & Paul Crosby
This is our 5th time at the Fortina over the years and again it was great, this time we shared our holiday with 4 friends,( 2 of them stayed in the 5 star) it was their first time at the Fortina and they agreed with us that it is first rate
View from our room 611 a superior sea view was wonderful and room was kept well maintained and very clean. Standard of food varied between average and excellent, breakfast menu was repetitive and although fine for a 2 week break would be boring for a protracted stay.
We were upgraded to a suite overlooking the water and Valletta which gave us an amazing view and a lounge for the 4 of us to socialise.
We had all been to this hotel before and it was my 4th trip - all with Mercury Direct.
The restaurants ranged from poor quality(Japanese and Italian)to excellent(Can Thai) and also La Vallette and Table 1 were always a good choice.
The Spa was a very pleasant experience with friendly staff and a choice of experiences.
Hotel staff very efficient particularly the night manager who booked us in
overall a very comforting holiday. amenities very good. maid service very good and helpful. entertainment fair but dissapointing no entertainment Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
Lovely hotel excelent location
could not find fault
Overall an excellent stay. Hotel even upgraded our third week to half board at no charge to us.
Excellent service provided. Staff friendly and obliging particularly the Phillipino waiter in the restaurant.
terrific hotel. great staff. room had an incredible view over the water to Valetta.
We met the manager and were very impressed by his hard work and dedication to his job. specially liked the Table 1 restaurant, but also the main restaurant in the hotel.
Beautiful hotel in a lovely area, i think its one of the nicer .resorts in Malta, the food was excellent and the hotel staff was friendly and helpfull.
First week we had a very basic room. The wardrobe was very small to put 2 people clothes, also the air-condition was very noisy. The second week we requested that we wanted to be moved to another room .My husband had a slip disc, and was suffering from sciatica, there was no proper chair for him to sit only a small round stool. It was very uncomfortable sitting on it. The second room they gave was much better, in every respect. We are thinking of going for Christmas week .My husband said he won't be going if we get a twin bed again, only a double bed will do.
We return to fortina spa around every 2 years because it is an excellent place to stay [see above] The new gym is amazing, food in dine around is of excellent quality and reception staff go out of their way to be helpful.

would like pre-paid envelope with the questionaires
some categories rate very good but no column for that. late arrival of tickets caused some concerns. Any concerns dealt with quickly by fortina staff
Interested in Europe and Mediterranean.
hairdryer in room 514 needs replacing- real safety factor. reported but not fixed.
Unreasonable to price fiesta excursion at €23 when in hotel was €16. It was really only worth price of bus fair. Pick up for Malta extravaganza 1 hour late.
Can't comment on tours too much as frequent visitors to Malta, tend to do our own thing. Only change to holiday would be perhaps to do B&B to allow us more freedom. Would have been convenient to fly from East Midlands by Air Malta but no flights.
Mercury rep was very helpful first day - all went well and we did not need his services again. Taxi to and from airport spot on. Day trip to Gozo was excellent.
I fell over and the staff didnt care until i wrote to the hotel manager and got satisfactory treatment.
Was told at time of booking that indian restaurant wasnt included but when we got there we were advised it is
the hotel not as good as in past years, too mich work being done inside, the hotel restaurants seem short
rep in bad mood, quite rude
fortina showing age in places but fantastic location
Great Holiday/ good airline/ top hotel. Dine around restaurants were top class
Disappointed that meals in hotel's other restaurants where limited to set menu.Giving us maximum price limit would have been better, then any additional costs
would have to be paid.
Only problem with hotel, lift often out of order, which caused problems as my husband disabled.
Hotel staff superb and hotel excellent
hotel lift service not good. 2 lifts and only working until last day consequently very lenghty weights - only 6 pax - very frustrating
The food in the hotel restaurant, main course was not always to a very high standard.
the place you had to sit waiting until your flight time was very cold as they had a night flight.
off hand manner of rep patronising constantly answering mobile with no apologies
Had a fantastic holiday, everything was very organised, excellent value for money.
Your rep in Malta was brilliant he explained everything your reps at the airport were excellent both arrival and departure
Our rep in Malta (Jonathan) was very helpful and we have had one of the best holidays ever.
Very much enjoyed our 1st Holiday with Mercury Direct, will recommend to others
Everything fine as usual with Mercury. Parking difficulties at Fortina now resolved - even the weather co-operated!
excellent service and value
3things went wrong which were certainly within control of the hotel and yourselves.
1. despite email confirmation from the fortina that room 320 would be allocated to us for 3 weeks we were asked to move to 702 seaview because of refurblishment on our last week.
2. restaurant tigne was closed whilst we were there for the 3 weeks because of refurblishments.
3. the fitness centre was closed for the duration of our stay because of refurblishments.
your representative new nothing about the above .
we assume all 3 refurblishments were scheduled well in advance of our arrival and as such should have been advised, we would have delayed our holiday with you unitl merch/april paying a little more.
given the cost of the holiday we are a little disapointed and as such think a small gesture of goodwill from yourselves would be appropriate - perhaps a small discount against a future holiday. this is the second time we have booked with you. we look foward to your prompt response
The hotel lifts were apalling and dangerous. We were stuck between floors in the lift for 10 minutes and they frequently didn't work There was no stairway access to the 8th floor and no stairway access to the ground floor reception.
booked seview- but recieved a deluxe garden. enjoyed stay and would re-visit
We all enjoyed Malta and we look forward to a return visit. ~A well organised break thanks to Mercury
Good flights and on time. Would certainly recommend Mercury direct
very good value for money no complaints what soever
Emily Hancock was very helpful with my phone booking.
Pool sunbeds not maintained well.
unwanted pressure to purchase timeshare within the hotel
eccellent holiday all around
Pavement outside hotel is very slippery.
Mercury Makes it easy! Admin dept excellent when i had a couple of queries
Did not see the rep and not know of tours/excursions - they found out about them themselves.
Whilst the dinner main course was good variety was limited & starters and desserts were disappointing
Excellent holiday will be looking for another good deal to go back to this hotel
Thank you, good value holiday. Really enjoyed it. Food and service excellent.
A very enjoyable holiday.
Although overall good, disappointed that our 22 year had to sleep on a sofa bed in a deluxe suite. Background music needed in Pizzeria as no atmosphere.
PROBLEM WITH LIFTS
Frances (rep) was fair but other rep was excellent
we were most impressed with Jonathan the rep
Didnt get free treatments as needed a doctores certificate
excellent value and service from mercury
An excellent holiday, everything was very good
Your rep Jonathan was excellent
Excellent value for money, very impressed.
Disappointed about not being able to eat in the Indian restaurant.
enjoyable holiday. would consider returning
The hotel and staff was lovely, the owners seem greedy to have rooms with no opening windo/ doors to get air/ daylight. I thought internal meant over pool. I didnt know rooms like this exsisted
an outstanding hotel complex with first class attention
Hotel reception staff could be more helpfull.bottled water too expensive , early problems with hotel lifts
Found having to book evening meal a bit tedious, prefer one dining room.
didn't use the rep service as been before.
cruise - excellent
thalasso pool- excellent
spa sante- excellent
malta - beautiful
staff and food were 1st class
Excellent Hotel- 1st class air conditioning and views from room. Only criticism not allowed into room until 14:30 on arrival, after 06:30 flight
Location of the hotel was superb and dine around half baord made holiday more special, wonderful room.
would have loved more drawer space for undies etc
value for money. offered room upgrade to deluxe garden room - brilliant!
lovely holiday - Thank you!
foritna offers excellent value, excellent location and facilities
Mercury Direct is a very well run organisation
Holiday excellent and very enjoyable. We will never travel with Ryanair again.
a very enjoyable holiday
Rep and transfer very good. Ryanair awful que can we not provide speedy boarding
Very please with room and dine around option.
Arrangements very good; we liked facilities at the fortina particularly the garden and resturants.
Buffet could do with an upgrade and room supplement wasnt good value, in the main very enjoyable
better flight times would be appreciated
lack of complimentary water on arrival, water should be free with meals
Very good hotel
First time to Malta really enjoyed it
Interested in all destinations. The Thallaso area changing rooms need serious work done, very dirty and ceilings missing. Apart from that everything was good and we enjoyed spa treatments and the restauramt choice was excellent.
Negotiate with carrier/ Tourism Office extra weight on return flight.
Ryan Air 15kg to 20kg
hotel exceptional, ideal position. holiday a pleasant and relaxing experience
Sup seaview room lacking in chairs/ shelves in bathroom
