Located on the southern coast with beautiful beaches either side, Mgarr is the island’s main harbour and is known as the gateway to Gozo. On arrival into Gozo you will be greeted by two impressive structures nestled within the hillside overlooking the harbour, the magnificent outline of a church dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes and famous defenses of Fort Chambray, built by the Knights of St. John.
This lively little port town is well served with bars and restaurants serving fresh seafood and locally produced wines. Many of the resort’s hotels are located on the hillside surrounded by olive groves and most enjoy beautiful views over the harbour, Mediterranean Sea and the Gozo channel.
