Iceland's Northern Lights

With it's astonishing cosmic displays of the Northern Lights, bursts of geothermic water from prehistoric geysers and cinematic landscapes dominated by snow-topped mountain ranges, the vast volcanic laboratory of Iceland exhibits unforgettable natural treasures.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1: UK to Reykjavik

Depart London on your scheduled flight direct to Iceland. Here you will be met on arrival and transferred to your hotel in the capital, Reykjavik. This evening, journey to a secluded vantage point for a chance to witness the Northern Lights, a celestial kaleidoscope of turquoise bands rolling across the still night sky, illuminating shimmering ice sheets and volcanic summits - a truly awe-inspiring spectacle to behold.

    Day 2: Reykjavik

Enjoy a morning tour of the world's northernmost capital, home to eye-popping architecture, hospitable locals and a panoramic backdrop of majestic snow-capped peaks. Spot the quaint 19th century annex of Reykjavik's parliament; wander through the Asmundur Sveinsson sculpture garden for a taste of eccentric Icelandic art and marvel at the iconic Hallgrimskirkja church, a dramatic landmark whose immense grandeur dominates the skyline. This afternoon, travel through a black-lava field to bathe in the Blue Lagoon, home to milky-teal geothermal waters packed with rejuvenating mineral salts, leaving you with luxuriously soft skin.

    Day 3: Reykjavik

Following breakfast, embark on a full day tour around the Golden Circle, a route famed for natural and historical Icelandic wonders. Witness the spectacular double cascade of Gullfoss waterfall before observing the enormous plumes of Strokkur geyser. Discover how tomatoes, cucumbers and even bananas grow within this harsh tundra at the Frioheimar Cultivation Centre and head to the UNESCO recognised Thingvellir National Park, location of the world's first democratic parliament in 930AD and a colossal fissured valley rift - formed by a clash of the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates.

    Day 4: Reykjavik

Spend your last day within Iceland's cosmopolitan capital at leisure. Before heading out from the old harbour to spot breaching humpbacks (at an additional fee), visit delicious eateries including Baejarins bestu, home to the 'world's best hotdog' once sampled by US president, Bill Clinton. Wrap up warm in a hand-knitted lopapeysa as you stroll through the bustling shopping district of Laugavegur, alternatively strip off in Laugardalur park and bathe within inviting natural springs. This evening, soak up Reykjaviks vibrant nightlife or journey into the snow-covered countryside for one last chance to view the sensational aurora borealis.
