Having stayed at Ozen Maadhoo on five occasions we thought it about time we tried Ozen BOLIFUSHI and we weren’t disappointed. 
The catamaran ride from Male was wonderful , very spacious with courteous staff. 
Arrival at BOLIFUSHI involved a very warm welcome by our butler Ahsan and the resort manager Leroy; you couldn’t ask to meet two nicer guys! Talk about making you feel special, we were blown away and our time on the island had barely begun. 
After an invigorating foot massage and some pink champagne we were driven around the island by Ahsan and then shown to our Villa. We chose a sunset earth villa with pool in which you could swim proper lengths ( approx 15m
long, insane!). It really was a spectacular villa, with plenty of privacy, that lead out on to the beautiful beach which was invariably empty. Pure paradise! 
The five restaurants were all fabulous. Each was different both in respect of food and ambiance, but the staff in every one were top class! They all really care about the experience you are having and want to make it the best possible for you. 
We also had a divine private BBQ on the beach one evening, cooked by Rahul and served by Yape. The amount and variety of food was incredible, it all tasted amazing and Yape chose some perfect wines which beautifully complimented the different courses. 
The Spa is an oasis of total relaxation. We had two treatments each and loved every second! 
The snorkelling is fantastic - a must do! 
A number of shops too with a great 
selection of goods to buy. 
There is another resort being developed 
on an island 1km away. All the building work is complete, and believe me it is so far away you won’t even notice it. 
Overall we were so impressed we’re hoping to go back again in October!

An absolute treasure of an island

We spent an unforgettable week of vacation on the island of Bolifushi at the Ozen Reserve Resort. From the moment we arrived at the airport, the resort staff took care of us and our luggage and transported us by boat to the island. The service was impeccable, and they even escorted us from the island all the way to the baggage check-in counter for our return journey.
Upon arrival on the island, we were welcomed by our personal butler, Ahsan, who took care of everything throughout our stay. He organized our activities quickly and efficiently, making our vacation perfect and enjoyable from start to finish, without ever being intrusive. We sincerely thank him for his outstanding service and organisation of all activities and surprises during our stay (e.g., for our anniversary and birthday).
We stayed in a “Water Villa with Pool,” which was exceptional in both quality and size (approximately 250 m²). The room amenities and services were of the highest standard, and the housekeeping staff was warm and attentive. We were also pleasantly surprised by the special touches we received for our wedding anniversary and my birthday, such as a beautifully decorated bed and a bath filled with rose petals. It was truly magical to return to our villa in the evening and discover these surprises.
During our stay, we had the pleasure of taking part in several memorable activities. First, we embarked on a “Dolphin Cruise,” where we were lucky enough to spot two dolphins and flying fish despite the unpredictable weather. We would like to express our gratitude to the team at Best Dives for this unforgettable experience.
We also treated ourselves to a “floating breakfast,” a delicious breakfast served on a floating tray in our private pool — a moment of pure relaxation and indulgence.
We enjoyed two couples’ massage sessions at the Elena Spa, delivered by an incredibly welcoming and skilled team. The second session took place in a unique treatment room over the water, with a transparent glass floor offering breathtaking views of the fish below. A truly magical experience!
To top it all off, we took part in a world wine tasting at the resort’s fine-dining restaurant, Origine. It was a special moment of exchange with Rohit, the head sommelier, whose passion and kindness are remarkable. We warmly thank him for this exceptional experience, as well as for the other delightful moments shared during our meals at Origine and Vista del Mar.
All of the resort’s restaurants are excellent, offering flavourful, beautifully presented, and generous dishes prepared with high-quality ingredients. Each restaurant has its own theme, catering to a wide range of tastes. We would especially like to thank Durai, a remarkably kind and skilled waiter who looked after us on many occasions during our lunches and dinners.
We would also like to express our deepest gratitude to Chef Anil, the executive chef overseeing all the resort’s restaurants. He demonstrated exceptional expertise in preparing meals for my wife, who has multiple allergies. He personally created and supervised all of her dishes throughout our stay, even enabling her to dine at the Asian-themed restaurant “Soyi,” which is usually not possible for her. Anil, your care and expertise made our culinary experience truly unforgettable. A heartfelt thank you!

Dream stay at Ozen Reserve Resort

This was our second Maldivian holiday (after visiting Luxe South Ari Atoll last year). It was a step-up in price but, for us it was totally worth it.

Let’s start with the transfer from the airport (quick aside: the new airport terminal is a big improvement). Transfer is by boat rather than seaplane. Whilst seaplanes are somewhat synonymous with Maldivian island transfer and can be exciting and offer amazing views they are also cramped, noisy and limit luggage. The boats which take guests to/from Bolifushi island are modern, spacious, air conditioned and very comfortable. The boats depart from a quay right beside the airport and take about 30-45 minutes. Staff on the boat were professional and friendly. The boats only go from Bolifushi to the airport so there are no intermediate stops (as can happen with the plane). This also meant that when British Airways advised that our return flight would be delayed by 2 hours (and check-in would stay open later) the resort was able to change the time of our return boat trip so that we weren’t hanging around the airport for hours.

Bolifushi is a relatively small island. Although easily walkable (particularly if your villa is a beach villa near the centre of the island) dedicated bicycles are provided for each villa (to avoid any confusion the bikes have your villa number or, if you prefer, your name). There is a profusion of greenery and beautiful flowers everywhere. We always enjoyed watching the Maldivian fruit bats flying around at sunset. The island is sprayed with insecticide regularly and as a consequence we were never troubled by mosquitoes or other insects.

We stayed in a beach villa on the sunrise side of the island near the middle (our villa faced roughly north east). The snorkelling is particularly good on the sunrise side of the island with the main house reef being only about 30 or 40 metres from the shore. The prevailing winds hit the sunrise side of the island which has pros and cons. On the one hand the water was a lot choppier on this side but the beach and its villas benefit from a cooling breeze.  From our villa, it was probably no more than 50 m to walk to the sunset side of the island. The sunset side of the island does have a good reef/drop off and benefits from calmer water and of course the sunset; however at the moment it also overlooks the building site (some way away) on the neighbouring island.

Our Villa was well appointed with a comfortable bed, plenty of seating (inside and out), a well laid out bathroom with two separate basins, a lovely shower and a separate loo and an outside bath. There was lots of storage space and hanging space for clothes and a hotel safe therein. The mini bar (free) was restocked daily and had some Champagne, wine, soft drinks and snacks. There was a large television which offered the opportunity of signing into your own Netflix/Amazon account, although we did not try this. There were plenty of UK style plug sockets and USB sockets.

The restaurants were very good with wonderful service and high-quality food. The reserve package included all meals and unrestricted dining in some restaurants but restrictions at other restaurants. We dined twice at OriginE - the first was included but the second occasion we had to pay for (and at over US$600 it was not cheap). There is a Teppanyaki restaurant but as it is located within the Royal residence, it is presumably only available if nobody is staying there. We did not try this as it is very expensive and wine is not included in the cost.

The principal daily restaurant is Vista del Mar which has a buffet for breakfast, lunch and supper as well as some daily hot food options from the kitchen. Again the quality of the food was generally very good and guests could eat inside (air-conditioned) or outside at tables on the beach but under canvas and overlooking the overwater villas - a lovely setting

Although the restaurants, the food and the staff were wonderful, this is also where we found the only gripe of our stay: guests were allowed to smoke at their tables even though other people were dining at neighbouring tables. Coming from the UK where this hasn’t been allowed for years it did somewhat impact the enjoyment of our meals. I appreciate that in some countries this may still be allowed, but  perhaps it is something the resort could remedy by having dedicated smoking/non-smoking areas.

The dive/water sports centre had various activities including snorkelling excursions, parasailing, jet skiing and scuba diving. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and snorkelling kit was available to borrow.

There are a few shops selling clothes, beach essentials, gifts and some toiletries, etc.

There is a well appointed gym with various aerobic machines (running, cross-training, cycling) as well as weight machines and free weights.

In summary, the resort was wonderful, the staff friendly and attentive, the snorkelling was amazing and the restaurants of a very high-quality. The question that we always ask ourselves at the end of a holiday is “would we go back?” The answer is a resounding “yes”.

Outstanding all inclusive resort. The quality of the food, drink and service was the best we have encountered. Thank you to ALL the staff, especially our Hiyani Ahsan, who were always brilliant. The variety and quality of the restaurants was excellent, the snorkelling, scuba and watersports, like everything else, as good as it gets. The spa was out of this world. Fantastic holiday. Thank you to ALL at Ozen Reserve, Bolifushi. We would love to return.

As Good As It Gets

We spent ten wonderful days at this resort, and it is truly difficult to find anything that didn’t work perfectly — in fact, it’s impossible.

First of all, the room (a Water Villa with pool) is excellent, with very generous indoor and outdoor spaces. In addition, the level of service is extremely high, and the staff make an even greater difference.
From our butler, who took such great care of us throughout the entire stay, to the two wonderful bartenders at Ozar, who delighted us with personalized cocktails made just for us; from the entire team at Sangu, who made us feel completely at home, to the manager of Soyi, who, after realizing we weren’t very familiar with Asian cuisine, guided us through it with excellent dish recommendations (and a lot of kindness :-)).

It was our tenth trip to the Maldives, and Ozen is the only resort we have ever chosen to return to for a second stay.
That alone should say everything
