Not far from Vilamoura and only a few miles from the airport, Quarteira is a great little beach holiday resort and generally represents great value compared with some of the other resorts nearby. As with most towns in the Algarve, Quarteira roots from a traditional fishing village and holidaymakers can see fish catches now laid out daily on the quayside of the pretty, remodelled harbour, before sampling it in one of the great restaurants found in the town.
A holiday to Quarteira gives you so many options that it may be difficult to decide how you are going to pack it all in. A number of 18-hole golf courses populate the local region and are well worth trying out. One of the areas longest beaches is located at Quarteira and a range of water sports can be partaken in. For those looking for a more relaxing time, there is a beautiful promenade running behind the beach as well as shops and traditional markets located in the town centre. In the evenings there is some nightlife made up of restaurants, a range of bars and some nightclubs.
